tomcat5 problem with java2 sdk 1.4.2_05

hi,
I have just started to study begining JSP by wrox publication.
In this book it was mentioned that for running the codes we need
tomcat version 5 with jdk 1.4.2 (minimum).I installed tomcat5.5.8
and java2 sdk1.4.2_05. Now as it is mentioned in the book, green
signal in the bottom of right is coming. But when I enter the address
localhost:8080/index.jsp, the starting tomcat page is not coming. Could you help me in this regard.
