Default Tomcat / Struts

I have been using Tomcat to run sample struts applications using the Struts Essentials book. I've run through all the examples and all is fine.

Now, I picked up the Prof Jakarta Struts book and cannot get passed the Struts chapter 3 example.

When I entered the folder for ch03apps and the subfolders, I try to run the tomcat and I get the following error:

Jan 18, 2006 11:15:45 AM org.apache.commons.digester.Digester startElement
SEVERE: Begin event threw exception
java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException

Any suggestions?

Hi Deborah,

I can't really tell what problem you're running into because an InvocationTargetException wraps another Exception (as a way of passing it up the call stack). Can you look through your logs and see what the wrapped Exception is?

Without knowing the root exception, I'd guess that it's likely that there's a formatting error in your struts-config.xml.
