Default Servlet.jar

I am new to J2ee. I installed tomcat 5.0 and have it and running standalone and with iis. I am trying to compile an application and it looks like there is no servlet.jar (I did a search), but there is a servlet-api.jar, how does/should servlet.jar get created.
