Default how can i use cdo with dynamic ip address?

In testing my site using localhost I get the following warning in win 2k event viewer:

"Message delivery to the remote domain 'hotmail.com' failed for the following reason: An internal DNS error caused a failure to find the remote server."

I think it's because I'm using cable and don't have a static ip address. Please keep answers simple - I'm a novice in network setup and in asp.

thanks in advance,

Mike

I don't think that is the problem. I've come across that error sometimes back though I have a static IP. My best guess is probably that you are behind NAT(A proxy server/gateway)and this might have something to with configuration on your SMTP server not allowing relaying and possibly domain masquearading. I am not really sure about this but this is where I would first check if I were you.

Were you able to find the solution to you problem. I am geting the same error since I have put a router in between my modem and computer. Before that my emails were going fine.

From your home PC you cannot send emails using somebody else's smtp server. In your case you can't use hotmail's smtp server because you are not on their network. You might have an account with hotmail.com but you can't use code to send emails through their smtp server. That's to keep hackers from relaying emails or bouncing emails off of a legitimate server.
