Hello,
Which version of XP? If it is XP Home, it doesn't have IIS. You can figure that out by going to the control panel (in classic view) and go to Administrative Tools > Internet Services Manager.
Also, is the .NET SDK that you are referring to the .NET framework?

yes, it is Xp home.
Using this I could do Database access(which uses IIS)
And .Net Sdk which has .NET framework too.

Database access in itself doesn't need IIS, it only needs data server access. Webapps need IIS or some other http server access. You can download a free .NET http server from http://www.gotdotnet.com that will work on XP Home edition, I think.

There are two options to ASP.NET development..
1. Install IIS (you can't on XP Home- no developer should use XP Home).
2. Use WebMatrix.
Web matrix is a good tool. However, it has, IMHO- a number of limitations- most specifically you can't do "Code Behind" with Web Matrix.

Hi,
Thanks for the WebMatrix information.
Can we use WebMAtrix for developing web apllications using .NET
other than ASP.NET.
Actually I'm preparing for certificate exam from home.
I should be able to practice everything that we can do for Web applications. Do you think WebMAtrix is good enough for this?

Hello,
You can use web matrix for both C# and VB.NET language, but if you are practicing for the exam, Visual Studio .NET is probably what you want to practice with. WebMatrix is rather limited.
