I get the following message when I try to create a web form from visual studio.

    Visual Studio.NET has detected that the specified web server is not running ASP.NET version 1.1. You will be unable to run ASP.NET web applications or services.

I downloaded and installed ASP.NET version 1.1. Why am I getting this message?

Does the aspnet_client folder exist in your wwwroot (or equivalent) folder?

I did a search and the "aspnet_client" folder doesn't exist anywhere on my computer. I have visual studio.net professional. Maybe I need a higher version to use web applications or services??

I found that since I installed iis after visual studio the registry was messed up. The .net framework has a program to run which fixes this.
      Run the following program under dos

      aspnet_regiis.exe -i

Yeah, it's not the version. I've found reinstalling the .NET framework helps. My problem in the past was I switched the wwwroot folder to another path, and because the aspnet_client folder wasn't there, I had to reinstall the .NET framework. Copying/pasting the folder might have worked also.
