Default Intro to ASP.NET 2.0 DB

Just got this book page 17 is where I'm stuck. I download the software recommended and get it installed but when you get to page 18 where you connect to VWD it does not list local as a server and the server it does list has no database associtaed with it. So I tried and just could not get it to work. So realizing it is all beta I removed and relaoded everything. Still does not work. So I ping both local and the other server and they both respond.

Please help.
Rich
