hi,
I am very new to ASP.Net programming.
I started developing an web application with my 3 other friends, as our college project. We are using VS.Net for that.

we planned to develop different parts ourselves and then merge the whole to a single project.
But I cant properly join and split two/more Visual Studio.Net Projects of ASP.Net.
Just copying files will not do that!
you know, each project includes lots of files, some created by programmer, some by the VS.net i.e. .aspx files, class file, css file & other associate files.

I can not split different part( the aspx and vb code pages actually) the project, which is also very necessary.

So how can i do it ?
I will be grateful if any one can tell me the proper way of Join/merge and split.

In a secnario like this, you should be working from a Team Server or some other form of Version Control server that allows each team member to work on X file, add X file to the overall project, etc. In so far as individual copies of Visual Studio, each with their own project and project files, I am not sure of an "easy" way to do this.

If each team member has named their projects EXACTLY the same thing you chould be able to copy the class files, .aspx files from one directory to the final directory and just refresh the view in VS and include those files in the project.

Of course, if the other members have different names for their projects, you are going to have to play around with the files since the files you would be copying over would belong to another Namespace which wouldnt be present in the final project.

But VS.net creates a project file,( .vbproj file) will that upload those copied files ?

No. Each instance of Visual Studio will create a project file so, in your case, you will have 3 project files each with a different list of dependencies.

What you could do is when everyone has completed there part of the project take all off the class files and aspx files and place them in one project folder and refresh your view in visual studio and then include those added files in the project. Again, this will ONLY work if everyone of your team members named their project the same thing other wise you will get a Namespace error.

And to tell you, i have just found in a book last day, that in VS.Net 2005, this problem is removed( i am using the 2003 IDE).
