Default publication solution

Earlier, i have written some solutions for customers so that they can insert text, pictures, formatting on their pages themselves. But the requirement is that they know html since they have to do this by html source.

I want to make a solution more user friendly by creating a page with buttons that makes it easier for customers to edit their pages. Do you have any suggestions on where i should go to create a user interface like this? References to articles, codes, 3rd parts.. ?
