Default Datagrid - Scroll to selected item

Hi All,
I am having trouble to get the result Im after.
I wish to have the datagrid scroll to the selected item when it is to be edited, has been edited or has been added.

I managed to use javascript to set the focus on a textbox in the edit template which takes care of the first situation. But after editing or adding there are not any textboxes in the display to set focus on.

I have not had any success setting the focus on an image button which would be available in all modes.

Does any one have any Idea as to how to do this?
I have read some article talking about the CurrentCell Property but this does not appear to be a property of my datagrid.

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Thanks Vishal,
This is a closed intranet environment, so SmartNavigation is fine, we are all using IE.
