You can use the dataset WriteXML method to generate an XML file, then use that with your ActiveX object.

I once made a class for my table in sqlserver this class had some public

properties and then in webservice I populated it from my datasource(ADO.NET)

and returned it,then webservice serialized and displayed my object in XMl

format,I think you can return a dataset as well.

(U know there is no file to be saved on the client just to be displayed on the explorer!)

select * from categories for xml auto, elements

This will return an xml string. Then you can do whatever you like with it stick it in an XMl Object and fly it to the moon if you like. Though probably you wont be able to save it to the clients machine. Unless maybe in a cookie or session that this "ActiveX" object can pick up?
