Default state management

Hi,

How do we save our own variables and application-specific or session-specific information between round trips through state management facilities?

Use the 'Application' and 'Session' collections that are built into ASP.NET. Application values are usually handled in-memory, while Session data can be managed in-memory, with MSSQL Server, or with ASP.NET State Server.
