Default want to run Media player from ASP.net page ??

heloo all !!

 i m using a button when i click that button i need to open some application(.exe. ,msword,notepad, specially Windows Media Player )
i wrote :

System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("notepad")

but this is not opening

for media player what should i write ??

pls help me

This is a documented bug, the following link has the resolution and a code sample.

"If you start a process from ASP.NET using System.Diagonistics.Process.Start method. Process might start in the background (you can even see it in task manager), but you cant see it in the desktop."

Guys i have tried using the above technique...but process continues to be seen in task manager but not on dekstop

Could you explain why you are trying to open Windows Media player?

Are you trying to play a movie? If you want to play a movie then embed an .AVI file in your HTML.

Why are you storing movies in a database?
Why not store a link to the movie?

Take the movie out of the database and place it on your webserver.
Embed the movie (linking to the movie on your server) in your HTML.

hey Mr.Kahtava,well i agree wid u....i have saved the link to the database...but am unable to embed it in the database because when i use <embed src=txt.... where txt contains the link to the video which has been retrived form db....n txt is a VB variable....Thanks for ur help sooo far....
