Access Pages From Sub Domain..

Hi,

How is it possible to access page from sub-domain
e.g.
http://finance.sitename.com
I have created folder called finance on the server..
but it give me error what settings I am supposed to do.
When I use www.sitename.com/finance page is accessed but when i try another option that is http://finance.sitename.com i get runtime error..

Can anybody provide me some solution...
