Greetings fellow Web Developers,

Of the mryiad of different techniques for creating reusable content in one's ASPX pages (include files, user controls, etc.) which one(s) will give you WYSIWYG within Visual Studio?

Thanks.:D

In VS.NET 2003 not that many.

Haven't used include files because IMHO that's old skool ASP.
User controls don't give you design time support; they just display a gray area.

If you create custom server controls, you don't get design time support by default. However, you can design and develop design time support for your own controls. If you have some quick and dirty controls, it's usually not worth the time to create a designer for your control. However, if you're a control developer or developed a control that's going to be used a lot, it's worth investigating the design time environment for server controls.

Hi Imar,

Does VS.NET 2005 give design time support for User Controls?

Yes, it does. It shows you how the control will look like and provides a link to edit its contents.

Of course part of the look and feel of a control is determined at run-time so you may not see exactly what you get.

Cheers,
