new to dot net

Hi
I am a programmer using sql server and asp for development.
I would to start trying out development in dot net...could anyone advise on what to install and where to obtain them from - i am using win 2000 advanced server.
I have particular interest to use
vb.net
asp.net
ado.net
could anyone also advise me on how to do some quick testts to see all the installations are working.
Would be geatful for all the help
