Default Is anyone out there to help?

I put two requests for help on this site on 1/11/06.
No one has responded. Is there anyone there?
I have been stuck for 4 days trying to get an app to
run. Book app, my app, no difference --I get the same error
msg: "This error can be caused by a virtual directory
not being configured as an application." BUT: I have
been doing the Start>Run>MMC>DefaultWebsite, etc and
the apps still fail. Help someone, anyone, please.
VictorVictor. My email address is: [email protected].
Thanks.

Hi there,

Yeah, there are people here. I think you didn't receive an answer is because people don't understand your problem, or they don't know the answer.

I don't have the book, so can you provide some more details? Specifically:

1. Are you IIS instead of the local development web server that comes with Visual Web Developer? Does the book tell you to do that?

2. How are you browsing to your site? Something like this:

http://localhost/YourApplication ?

3. If that's the case, did you turn the folder YourApplication into a Virtual Directory in IIS by opening its properties and then selecting Create?

HtH,

Imar

Victor, a minon part of the non-response problem may be that you've posted in the general ASP.NET 2.0 Beginner forum, not the forum specific to the book "Beginning ASP.NET 2.0" which you can find in the "Book" category of the forum list or go straight there by:
http://p2p.wrox.com/book-beginning-asp-net-2-0-book-vb-isbn-978-0-7645-8850-1-c-isbn-978-0-470-04258-8-228/

I know that some of these forums have similar sounding names and I'm working on a plan to help clarify this. Thanks!
