Default ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005 Express

HI,

it's recommended that ASP.NET 2.0(Visual Web Developer) with SQL server 2005 Express. But I find Express edition missing components and wonder if I could just use SQL Server 2005 instead.

I am confused abt the new authentication and authorization component. How is it linked to a database from Web Site Administration tool?

Many thanks.:D

You don't "Need" to use the express version. You can use almost any database, DB, Sybase, Access etc. I use sqlserver 2005 with all my new apps. It is definatly more robust than the express version.
