Default CreateUserWizard

(I may have accidentally posted this question on another forum but I can't find it)

I would like to know if I can specify a data source for the CreateUserWizard control module. I use an Sql database on a shared remote server and have a table named USERS in the database. Is the CreateUser control dedicated to the App_Data directory or can we designate an independent and remote Sql 2000 data source for it to both read and write into?

Thank you

Yes, you can use any datasource you want. Look in the VS help under Membership Providers. You need to create one in the web.config.

Are you referring to this thread (where I added an answer that may put you in the right direction?)

Again my thanks. I have just purchased another WROX publication, Visual Basic 2005. I selected it as a result of the information provided by yourself and the other professional and non-professional monitors of these many forums.

Your posted article is exactly the information I need to continue with my work. We are moving a website from old ASP directly to ASP.NET 2.0. We attempted migrating to ASP.NET 1.0 last year but found it to cumbersome. 2.0 is a tremendous improvement but still daunting. Less so however due the terrific help found in your forums. I rarely have used forums because so many were either non-responsive or little more than chat rooms.

Thank you for the expert consul.

Well, I am glad I could give you this warm and fuzzy feeling about this forum... ;)

Good luck with your custom providers. I have found it an interesting and rewarding challenge to create one....
