Default Do I have to learn VB.NET before learning ASP.NET?

I just bought the book "Beginning ASP.NET and Databases" by John Kauffman and Bradley Millington, the authors do not recommend to learn VB.NET or C# before studying this book ?

But do I really have to understand VB.NET or C# before studying this book ? and which language is the best ? If so, what is the best book to buy on VB.NET or C# ?

I learned a little bit about VB several years ago, but not VB.NET.

Thanks

Do you really have to know the language? No, but it is good to know. However "Beginning ASP.NET 1.1 with VB.NET 2003" doesn't require even less language familiarity.

I've been using "ASP.NET 2.0 Unleashed" and the Wrox "Professional ASP.NET 2.0" & "Beginning ASP.NET 2.0" books to learn as I go.

I have been working with VB.NET to date, but I am curious about C# as well...

if you don't know any programming language( c, c++ , vb , etc. ) then it is better that you learn any language (VB.Net or C#) first.
You need not to go in depth of the language, but should know the basic concepts of a programming language.
Otherwise , there is no need to learn the vb.net or C# if you are going for asp.net
