Default Display in IE in incorrect format

Hi All,
I have an app that when I bring it up in VS.NET and right click on my code to "view in browser" it comes up perfectly how I want it. But when I place it on the server and attempt to bring it up in a browser the format is off. I'm using a Master page and a site map with an associated css file. No matter where it is it comes up fine in Visual Studio so I know there is nothing wrong with the css or the code. Why would this not be showing up correctly in the browser? Is it b/c VS.Net has a special library or something. Please help. Thank you

Hi there.. are you sure that you are sending all the files to the server?? maybe one of them is out of date??? or you are not sending the master page or the css file????

I have everything saved in the same folder on the server just like it was on my local machine. I've done it before with other applications and it worked fine. Also, right now with the files on the server, it still opens fine on the server when opened through VS. I know this is strange, it's never happened to me before, no one seems to know what the problem is. I do have a DTD reference in my master page. Could this be throwing off the css? Thanks for helping me :-)

didn't work. this is my first Master page and I was looking online to find some answers for this. when I bring up the design view it shows the page as it should be. Do I need to convert it to a different format or something. Or know anyplace online I can look deeper into it. Thank you

I work all the time with master pages and have no problem with it... I saw problems when using div with IE and firefox and positioning using not flow (like top=1 and left=2 sometimes fails).. maybe that's the problem???

I'm not using not flow but I am using <div> very much in my master file and it looks like that may be the big problem with the formatting and given that I've only tested it with IE and Firefox. What did you use instead of <div>?

nothing :( not find a solution yet, seems to be a way the navigator render the div, there is a lot of info in google but no solutions, the only one we found is to recommend using one or the other (some pages render ok on IE, and others render ok in firefox).

toddw607,

You said "the format is off". Can you provide more detail about this? It is hard for us to determine what is wrong if we can't see what the pages look like. Is the master page content showing up in both places? Is there possibly a problem with the URLs for the style sheets that works when it's loaded in VS because of a virtual directory?
