Default Windows Vista - IIS Config Error

Hi - Im trying to work out why I keep getting the following parser error msg:

It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

I have set up a virtual directory in IIS under the 'default client website' directory, and tried converting it to an application, but keep getting the same error msg. Note:I work in PHP as well and cant see any of my includes in these files as well.

Is there something wrong in my IIS settings or is it within the webconfig?

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Cheers
