Their argument for browser preventing user from overriding is good, but in my case all I want to do is show a proper link in the status bar instead of javascript:__doPostBack(ctl00$Nav).


Tooltip seems a much better alternative.

Or we could use CSS/Javascript way to show the Tooltip in a Div/Span somewhere close to the linkbutton.

Try this then... it's a little extra coding but it's nice, javascript, and fast. Plus you basically can put anything you want into a tooltip even images.
