I have been working on a deployment problem with an ASP.NET 2.0 web site. With VWD 2005 Express and VS 2005 installed in two PCs, I have been able to view my aspx web pages very well, while the old production server with only VS 6 installed can not open the aspx web page.

Then I installed .net Framework SDK, which mapped the IIS web server and setted up the .net Framework 2.0 configuration in the Administrative Tools window. However, neither http:// .aspx nor directly opening with IE browser can publish the aspx web site. Do we have to re-start the production server later on, re-publish the aspx web site, or we are missing other important deployment steps? Opening with IE browser showed only the text code file.

It sounds like IIS doesn't have the .NET pages mapped to the ASP.NET runtime libraries. Try this search:

Yes, I did try ASPNET_regiis before, but it didn't work.
Somebody told me ASPNET_regiis applies only to
.netFramework 1.1 and 1.0.

Not to my knowledge. Each version of the framework has a version of that tool.
