Hi Mark,
No, the book doesn't cover hosting your site with an ISP in detail. It describes specific steps in deployment for special situations (e.g. how to set up write permissions for upload folders) but doesn't go into general setup issues.
Especially with an ISP, things can be tricky. If you disabled custom errors and still get this error, my suggestion is to create a very basic site first and upload that. E.g. choose File | New Web Site in Visual Web Developer, clear your entire site at GoDaddy and upload this site. This way, you can test if .NET 2 is configured correctly. If you still get an error, you need to contact your host as the site isn't configured correctly. (It could still be running .NET 1.x)
If it works, you can build on from there, adding files until things break. Once you get to the database, take a look here:
http://imar.spaanjaars.com/QuickDocId.aspx?quickdoc=395
http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archi...25/423703.aspx
There two articles explain how to configure your site and SQL Server if you're not using the default SQL Server Express database (which you usually can't when hosting with an ISP).
Finally, you may want to read this thread:
http://p2p.wrox.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=60145
It covers a number of problems others had with getting a SQL Server database up and running with a GoDadday account.
Cheers,
Imar

Imar-
Thanks for the excellent assistance. I think you have given me enough guidance to get this going on my own.
I also have a buddy who works with ASP.NET for a living. Interestingly enough I emailed him and told him that I wanted to try to use your code for my project and he told me that he just published two web aps based on this project from your book. He offered to help me with my project and I am sure can help me deploy it. He is a good friend and told me that he will help me and let me have the source code but of course I still need a copy of your book so I know how to maintain the code... ;)
I thought it was interesting that three different major book stores in my area did not have your book in stock (obviously they don't know what is good) but I asked two to order it and plan to purchase it from the first to get it in.
Thanks again. I will plan to repost and share our experience in the mysteries of GoDaddy deployment after we learn them.
:D

Or, hopefully, they did have the book but it was sold out.... ;)
Anyway, it's good that you ordered it in multiple places. That way, it ends up in the shop again so hopefully someone else gets to see it too.....
Are the sites your friend built publicly available? Would like to see how they ended up.
Cheers,
Imar

Imar-
I will try to get the links for you, one was a personal family album and the other was a site for a realtor to show his/her housing portfolio. I don't think he would mind publishing them.
On another similar note, I have just wasted the last hour looking for the posting on P2P that shows the other published web sites that used the Photo Album code. I saw a VW dealer in Columbia that implemented it similar to what I want to do and now can't find it for nothin! Can you give me a link to that topic? I don't know why it is so hard for me to find it again.
Thanks.

No.
That site does have interesting pictures, but somewhere I saw a posting in which you published a list of web sites using the Photo Album application. In that list one of the sites (it was a site for a VW club in Columbia) used the Photo Album but the author added buttons for Back, Next, First, Last.
Now I can't find the posting where you list all those example sites. :(

Imar-
I must have lost my mind. I saw a real nice listing of web sites somewhere that used your applications but I could not find it again either.
No biggie. Thanks for your help.:D
