Default drop down default value

hello

i am finding my self in deep trouble

i have a dropdown list which is bound to one table called time zone and this drop down is shown in registration form where user select current time and current time is stored in member table.

but in edit profile page drop down is again bind with time zone table but but i want to display default value of drop down as stored in member table.

please help.

Have you tried using the SelectedValue member of the Dropdown list?

yes
when i write dropdownlist.selectedvalue = temp
where temp is value which i got from database
then it shows error.
please suggest
