Arrow put favicon in address bar

Hello friends,
I am curious about how to put a favicon in the address bar?
I have gone through searches on google and official asp.net site.
There I got the hints about using favicon link put <link> tags as follows
Code:
<link runat="server" rel="shortcut icon" href="~/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
    <link runat="server" rel="icon" href="~/favicon.ico" type="image/ico" />
But favicon does not appear in Fire Fox.
can any body tell that how a favicon can be shown up in Fire fox.
It is working in IE.

Thank you.

I use the first notation, and it works in all browsers...
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
Here's a link to my site http://www.EarthChronicle.com
I even have a different favicon for my beta website http://beta.EarthChronicle.com, and they're both stable on all browsers.

You might try flushing the cache, too. Firefox holds onto things longer than IE. Tools>Clear Recent History

Then reload the page several times. I don't know why, but favicon's definitely seem to be unusually finicky about picking up the first time. I've noticed it and have talked to a lot of developers who've had the same experience. Once you get them up and running they work fine though.
