Default footer line will not go down

Hello I have a problem with my footer line.
I inserted a slideshow in my page and the footer though appears immediately below the slide show and not at the bottom:
here is what my footer at my css file looks like:

width: 1440px;
clear: both;
position: absolute;
bottom: 0px;
/*height: 0px;*/
text-align: center;
font-size: 0.7em;
font-weight: bold;
line-height: 10px;
color: grey;

Also another weird thing is that in mozilla and IE the slideshow apeears in the middle of the page but in safari at the left!
Please help and thanks!

i figured out about the footer but not about the safari and why it shows the slideshow at the left of the page. IE and Mozilla show it in the center!
I want t in the center!
