Default What book should i buy?

Beginning ASP.NET 4: in C# and VB
or
ASP.NET 3.5 Website Programming: Problem - Design - Solution

I want to build my own website and publish it (having new features..). I have little understanding of asp.net but of 2.0.
Asp.net 4.0 is new book but i haven't read anything about asp.net 3.5 yet.

Frankly, I'd recommend Beginning ASP.NET 4: in C# and VB in your particular instance. While both books are good, ASP.NET 3.5 Website Programming is really geared more toward professional developers who are working in the enterprise. For building personal projects, the beginner book will present you with a much better view of the language enhancements since 2.0, as well as teach you quite a bit about building web sites using VS. Alternatively, you should check out http://www.amazon.com/Professional-A...dp/0470502207/, as this book will have a bit more "meat" to it. Happy coding.

The 3.5 .NET Framework added enhancements to the 2.0 Framework, such as C# 3.0, LINQ and additional programming paradigms. 4.0 .NET Framework was the first major release to incorporate full support for Entity Framework, MVC 3. You can find additional information in What's New in the .NET Framework 4. However, beginning with .NET Framework 4.0 is absolutely not a problem, since nearly everything is backward-compatible. As we like to say among professional programmers: "It's all just MSIL." :) Happy coding!

Vivek,

asp.net 4 by Imar Spannjaars is EXCELLENT ... not only is the book an excellent primer (this is the book that I got started on last year), but there is a HUGE benefit to getting this book, well worth the $24.19 that you spend at Amazon ... Imar has a forum here for his book ... whenever you get stuck on a book example or want clarification, post on his forum and he responds quickly, succinctly, and accurately ... that is a really really big plus ...

good luck!
