Default An idea for font format

I have this idea about a new font format that allows multiple font sets to run simultaneously. The result being: each keystroke can access a few choices of that character, each one slightly different and selected randomly, so as to provide "script" or so called personalized fonts with an overall more real look. There are many great looking fonts out there that are compromised when all the individual characters are repeated over and over. It looses it's punch. This seems insignificant, but I notice it all over the place. Has any one out there thought much about it? Is this possible? Is this a programmer's question? I'm not a programmer, but this interests me.

Thanks,Jimp
