Default Odd PHP Session Problem

I've seen several other posts that are somewhat related to this but not quite what I'm looking for.

I used to host PHP + MySQL + Apache 2.0 on a Win32 system and all worked great, now I'm switched to a nix box and all is bad.

Every time that I refreshe a login screen my session_id changes, I can see they are created each time in the /tmp directory as well.

You can take a look there to see for yourself. I have no clue what could be wrong. I've check all the settings I can think of with no luck :( Any ideas?

It's surely error in your php.ini file setting. Look for changes in the [session] section of the file. I had this error in my localhost configuration and re-editing the value in php.ini solved this... best of luck!

Yes well I've tried nearly every different setting I could see and think of with no luck :(

The php.ini file is fresh from a new install and *should* work but doesn't :(
