Default Query strings not becoming variables in IIS

Something wrong in the set-up..??
Query strings passed from one page to the next are not then made available as variables when using my home Internet Information Services.
(There is nothing wrong with the code, as it works OK on my (remote) web server.)
Is there something I am missing in the setup of .php?
