Once you have mastered the basics of PHP from our 'Learn PHP' series of tutorials, you can move on to learning more advanced PHP concepts.

the next is to connect mysql to php and so on..

Yes there is, I recently bought the Prof PHP5 book recently, and I am on about the 3rd Chap. to me the difference is that it is getting more into the Object Oriented Programming, working with classes, unified modeling language verses teaching you to connect to the DB and various functions of php. So far I really like this book and recommend it. The WROX site gives a good explaination on the chapters.
