Default why my variable is empty?

i have declared a string named "stat" and it carries the btn_in caption if the btn_in button is selected or btn_out caption if the btn_out button is selected. but when i run the program, my variable stat is empty...

Define your variable in the General Definitions to be global through out the module.
Or add a .BAS module and use Global to define the variable which will be visible through out the entire program
