I'm trying to share my database on the network and have the file on the server and have option shared open selected. I am trying to not give access to my client user to edit any part of the database. So when I change the startup to switchboard on startup and uncheck everything except display status bar I cannot get back in to edit the database when I open it. Could anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Have you tried holding down the Shift key as you open the database? This will override the other settings and display the Database window.

Try pressing F11 when you open it that normally will bring up the database window for you
