CMS doesn't appear to work with Firefox 1.5

Hi,

I just tried posting some content to my CMS after doing all of the updates per the book, errata, etc, and it all seems to work within IE, and I am able to post and update content.

However, when I open Firefox, this isn't the case, and when I try to post content, I get red text below the text fields, stating that I have to add text to the page, right in the fields where I had originally typed the text.

I also noticed that the formatting tools are not available in Firefox either, that usually are in the Full Text Textbox.

Is there an update or something that can be applied to either side to make this app work with Firefox as well?

Hi abel714,

Sorry for my late response. I was on vacation for the past few weeks.

I think something has changed in FireFox. I just ran the sample site on FireFox 1.5 as well, and ran into the same issue. I am pretty sure everything worked fine in FireFox when the book was originally released.

Fortunately, the fix is easy: just install the latest version of the FCK Editor (always a good idea). I just downloaded and installed version 2.3.1 from http://www.fckeditor.net/ and now everything works fine in FireFox again.

how do i install the lates version of fckeditor?

i have the same problem only that i works fine on local machine but on the online server it does not works in firefox.

Follow these steps to upgrade the editor:

1. Download the latest version

2. Unzip. You'll end up with a folder called fckeditor

3. Make a backup of the existing editor in the CMS site

4. Delete the existing Fckeditor folder

5. Move the downloaded version into the site

6. Copy and past the toolbarset WroxCms from the old editor to the config file for the new editor. Refer to page 158 for more details.
