Is there a book like this that would show how to actually create the site - I think this one leaves out alot from a beginner's perspective. I'm not a .net programmer and find my slef getting lost in the sequence of events

You may want to take a look at Beginning ASP.NET 2.0 and Professional ASP.NET 2.0, both published by Wrox.

There's no C# version of the book's code, and AFAIK, there are no plans to release a C# specific version. You may want to take a look at on-line code converters, like this one: http://www.dotnettaxi.com/Tools/Converter.aspx
