Has anyone been able to put smileys (via toolbar) in the Chat application. I thought it would be a good idea to do it, but I'm at a loss as to where to start.

Any ideas?

Might the FCKEditor do the trick? I've successfully implemented it for the bugbase and the CMS app.

Yeah, it might. It has a Smiley feature that inserts smileys into the text. Alternatively, you can take a look at how this forum does it. When you type a reply, you have a number of smileys on your left. :)
