koen,

yes, my reading of the current situation is that google ignores meta-data, therefore accessible dynamic content has to be easily navigated. i've mucked around with a few httphandlers and can 'almost' cloak my site in 'aliases', however, postbacks tend to give the game away and frustrate my best attempts.

our old friend viewstate also seems to give as much as he/she takes in this respect. then when you take into account the fact that shared hosting prevents you from implementing anything in global.asax (Application_BeginRequest in particular), you begin to wonder if you'll ever manage to make an economical site SEO friendly!!

frustrated, but still soldiering on :) and trying to implement 'best practice'

The first excerpt article "Provocative Search Engine Friendly URLs in ASP.NET" from our new book "Professional Search Engine Optimization with ASP.NET: A Developer's Guide to SEO" is now published at:
http://www.wrox.com/WileyCDA/Section/id-305997.html

I think anyone who is interested in SEO as it relates to TheBeerHouse (or any ASP.NET site) will want to take a look at this.

For those of you that are scared of Regular Expressions, do not let that excerpt disway you from picking up the book, Cristian and Jamie go into detail about how to do URL Rewriting without using that particular ISAPI filter. In any event, that book as a whole is a wealth of information and I would encourage any developer working with the web to pick it up and read it. ^^
