Yes that works but only for a LinkButton not for a button.

If I want to use a Button and not a LinkButton how can I do it then ?
here is the code I used

Code:
<asp:TemplateField>
            <ItemTemplate>

            <asp:LinkButton Text="xx" runat="server" ID="Edit"
                     CommandName="Edit" CssClass="submit">
            </asp:LinkButton>
            <asp:LinkButton Text="xx" runat="server" ID="Insert"
                     CommandName="New" CssClass="submit">
           </asp:LinkButton>
            </ItemTemplate>

            <InsertItemTemplate>
                <asp:LinkButton ID="btnInsert" runat="server" CommandName="Insert"
                    Text="Skráset" CssClass="submit">
                </asp:LinkButton>
                <asp:LinkButton ID="btnCancel" runat="server" CausesValidation="false"
                    CommandName="Cancel" Text="xx" CssClass="submit_for_Detailsview">
                </asp:LinkButton>
            </InsertItemTemplate>

            <EditItemTemplate>
                    <asp:LinkButton ID="UpdateButton" runat="server" CommandName="Update"
                        Text="xx" CssClass="submit">
                    </asp:LinkButton>
                    <asp:LinkButton ID="btnCancel" CausesValidation="false" runat="server"
                        CommandName="Cancel" Text="xx" CssClass="submit">
                    </asp:LinkButton>
            </EditItemTemplate>

         </asp:TemplateField>
