Default logo link in the header & strange chars - mail

Hello,
I continue to work on my based "beer house" site and here I am again to get your help:
1. I want to put a (link) logo/image in the header and I´m not able to do that. Any tip?
2. When someone registers in my site, the automated e-mails that that users receive, go with some strange characters; since I´m in Portugal and we use to much the acentuated characters (e.g. é, à, â, õ, ç) that are turned in the strange characters.
Can you help me again to solve these problems?
Thank you very much.
Luis J.

Thanks again mesdouri.
By the way, what's your site?
About the first item, I think I can use the Z-index to put the logo above the (part of the) header, exactly in the coordinates that I want. I read something about this, but I haven´t still time to explore it.
The problem is that when I put the logo/link, it pulls the header down, making a horrible effect.
All the best for all.
Luis J.
