I like to hide the poll section on the left and Newsletter from the right including the left side as well. i hid those sections from the UI using the masterpage commenting those out. But, I see empty space there. I don't want the space visible - what do i do?

Also, I want to make polls secion deactivated unless users activate those using some sort of 'Activate Polls' button!
