Default Chapter 4 ProfileObject.aspx

Hi,

Please help. When I work through the "TRY IT" in Chapter 4, and try to view ProfileObject.aspx in browser, I always get this error:

SQLExpress database file auto-creation errorProblem is, I am running Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Version. Even when I switched to another machine with SQL Server Exprerss installed, I still get the same error.

Is there anything else I should do?

Thanks.

Hello,

Does the Web Site Adminstration Tool (WSAT) work for you? If so, it is creating the file. Can you open the file directly from SQL Server?

Regards,

Hi

Thank you for your response.

WSAT is not creating the ASPNET.mdf file either (I presume I do that in the "Provider" tab). But I managed to create it using ASPNET_REGSQL, but it is no use since I still can't view ProjectObject.aspx in browser and still can't use WSAT to test the providers.

I am using Visual Studio 2010 by the way and installed MS SQL Server separately from VS 2010.

Regards

I'm having the same problem. I also installed SQL Server express before I installed visual web studio 2010. I am pretty much learning web development for the first time, so I have no idea how to fix this problem. Thank you for any help in advance.

I solved the problem by following the advice found here:

http://forums.asp.net/t/1377174.aspx

Seems like magic to me to delete a directory and restart the computer, but it works.
