Default Code Download

Hello Everyone,
My name is Doug Parsons and I am doing the Technical Review of this book. I would just like to bring something to everyone's attention that the preview code for this book that can be downloaded from CodePlex was developed using a full blown version of Visual Studio and not one of the Express versions. So if you download this preview and are using an Express version of Visual Studio please go to File --> Open Web Site and select the 'TheBeerHouse' directory inside of the 'TheBeerHouse_MVC' directory.

If you attempt to open the website using the included solution file Express will start to complain about not supporting DBP project types. This DBP project isn't required of the TBH Project to run (it only contains a SQL Script).

Thanks to forum member vantoko who brought this to my attention in another thread.

-Doug

Question The software

Hello, I am trying to get things set up, but am having some trouble. I thought I did everything in the right order, but when I start Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition, I do not see ASP.NET MVC WEB applications as is pictured in fig 2-17 on page 20. Can anyone help me?
Thanks

So, By that I take it that "ASP.NET MVC WEB application" is not a template with the express edition. So do I choose "ASP.NET WEB application" ?

No you shouldn't need to, if MVC installed correctly, it will show up as an option is VS Web Express. Maybe this post on ASP.NET will help out.

Well, I have installed ASP.NET MVC 1.0 and the Visual web Developer and Visual C# but the "ASP.NET MVC Web Application" still does not appear on my list of templates. All the others shown in the figure are there. I am runnning VISTA HOME PREMIUM 64 bit. I do not know what is the matter.

I uninstalled the ASP.NET MVC application from Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs, reset the settings and reinstalled ASP.NET MVC. This did the trick. Found this at
