Default CategoryIndex.aspx or signing up for feeds

The categoryItem.ascx appears to be the only way to subscribe to a feed. This control is used on the manageCategories.aspx and CategoryIndex.aspx pages. The ManageCategories page is available from the admin/article/view categories, which is fine if you are an editor. But, the CategoryIndex page is not available via an existing link, meaning no one can easily sign up for a feed unless they know to go to the articles/categories URL. Unless I'm missing something, which could be.

It would seem that the Categories side bar's All selection could logically be used to take the viewer to the CategoriesIndex page, since the side bar title is Categories and the selection is All. When a specific category is selected it does make sense to show the atricles for the selected category.

Stated differently how is a user supposed to sign up for a feed if the only page to do so is effectively not accessible?
