Default ThePhileVB set up problem solved ..But

Just to let you know I think I have the solution to the missing references in my previous 2 posts:
Re: ThePhileVB references not found
Re: 113 Build Errors

I had created a virtual folder using IIS which somehow gave me the problems.

I have since used the Right-click/Share this ThePhileVB folder method whilst in C:\ and it works.

ThePhile site opens complete with references and no build errors, however, as yet it can't detect the SQL server to run Debug.

But it's a start, I'll keep working at it.

If anybody has a quick solution I would appreciate it.

Site up and running at last, I had omitted to alter the all the config files and change the 'Windows Only' to Windows and SQL authorisation in the Enterprise Manager.

I feel a little silly now for making a fuss and thinking that I had downloaded a corrupted ThePhile code.

Still that's how we learn by making mistakes, I am trying to tell myself.

Ta Ta for now

I'm glad you got it working. I read your messages, but I didn't have any helpful ideas for you. We learn a lot by working through problems like this, and it develops our problem-solving skills.

I've learned a lot from working on this project. This lets us work with a real-world project and we can learn lessons that can't be learned from introductory books.

I really hope Wiley considers having someone update this book for VS 2005. This would make a great demo project for ASP.NET 2.0 if we could make use of the new 2.0 features, like Master Pages, Web Part zones, Personalization, and the new data components. This would both cut the size of the overall code, and add a lot of new functionality.
