Default Changing Category and/or News order

Im looking for some ideas on allowing the user to sort their news and categories using simple up/down arrows

ie
1) Books
2) DVD
3) Movies

user clicks up arrow on movies (within the manager) and creates
1) Books
2) Movies
3) DVD

As it stands now they're organized only by date added. Would this require some sort of array to count and track and then return to db based on position in the array and creating an int "Position" field in the db to track?

Hi there,

Maybe this article will give you some ideas:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/is...e/default.aspx

It deals mostly with the client side of things, so you'll need to figure out how to persist the selection at the server. Indeed a "Position" or "Order" column makes a lot of sense. Then you can order by that column at run-time.

Cheers,

Imar
