I have been observing a problem...sorry if it has been
discussed...when viewing the page "MyAccount.aspx" while
logged-in (of course) the header link has the link
"Sign Out". This does not work on this page, but instead
produces the error inside the table that reads
" you must supply your original password..." (etc., etc.)

Has anyone observed this and can you tell me how to fix it?

I have observed this problem also occurs in 'thePhile'
example website, not just my own code.

Just put a breakpoint in the code-behind and walk through the code to see what's happening.

Thanks, Eric...but did you mean in the code-behind for "MyAccount.aspx"?
I put one in there and it didn't give me anything...the problem is not
that the code breaks and gives me an error page but that the "SignOut"
linkbutton produces the validation summary at the top of the main panel,
rather than signing out and returning me to the default page like it does
on every other page on the site.
Also, it does the same thing on both the 'thePhile' sample site AND on
'ericengler.com'.
I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

I didn't understand what you were saying. You can fix it easily by going to the SignOut control in the SiteHeader user control, and setting the CausesValidation property to false.
