I've noticed that the Sign Out link doesn't work.
Specifically, when clicking Sign Out from the ShowNews.aspx page.
A Javascript error for javascript_doPostBack('Menu$Header$Signout',") is displayed by the Browser(IE & Netscape).

My test environment is an implementation of thePhile code download
without modifications.

I have also noticed showNews.aspx causes: theForm = document.default; "missing name after .operator"

Any help correcting these problems is greatly appreciated.

You're right about this. Have you determine what is supposed to happen when you click on Sign Out? Where is the Sign Out button located in the project and what code is supposed to execute?

Do you think the button click procedure is executing?

What is the error message telling you exactly?

__doPostBack is the name of the JavaScript function that initiates a postback, and the argument to this function tells ASP.NET what event to call.

If you view the source on the page with the problem you will see this line:
<a id="Menu_Header_SignOut" href="javascript:__doPostBack('Menu$Header$SignOut ','')">Sign Out</a>

Compare this line to what you see when you view source on other pages where the Sign Out link works correctly.

I don't have an answer for you right now, but you need to approach this using a logical set of debugging steps and try to home in on the problem that way.
