When I try to open the file ThePhile.sln from the C drive I get this error in VS.net

Visual Studio.NET cannot create or open the application. The likeliest problem is that required components are not installed on the local Web server. Run Visual Studio. NET setup and add the Web Development component.

How do I fix this ?

I believe you need to setup a virtual directory in IIS; there should be instructions on how to set this up in the solution, or in the book.

Or maybe asp.net isn't registered in IIS. Do some web searches on aspnet_regiis.exe.
